Flush with the growing success of vineyard tours, the Bordeaux Tourism Office is offering a complete range of individual tours for the first time in winter. A minimum of one activity will be offered every day: tastings, vineyard excursions, "hands-on" workshops organised by the Tourism Office and its partners.

Bordeaux has just received an official label of "ville vélotouristique" (bike-tourism city). It offers cyclists a welcome, with services and equipment geared to tourism by bicycle. The Bordeaux Tourism Office has come up with a number of suggestions for city tours for cyclists to discover some unexpected corners of Bordeaux down lanes they might never take, the odd newly opened shop or a courtyard door exceptionally left ajar.

Bordeaux's Musée des Arts Décoratifs presents: "The Art of Living under the Second Empire" from December 9th 2011 to March 5th 2012. For the first time the Château de Fontainebleau has granted an exceptional loan of 170 works of art, furniture and objects giving an insight into the living environment of the imperial couple and this eclectic late 19th century style.

Bordeaux welcomes the arrival of a new contemporary art space. The Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute, the brainchild of the Bordeaux merchant and patron of the arts of that name, is at the same time a multi-disciplinary exhibition space and an artists' residence: not to be missed is the inaugural exhibition "L'étoffe du temps" (the Fabric of Time). Starting from a masterpiece by Picasso, the Seated Woman (1949), the exhibition features a transversal conversation of works and artists, conceptual or figurative, on the theme of Time in contemporary art.
