Assemblage (wine-blending) workshops: improve your wine knowledge
If you are a wine lover you will enjoy this “Introduction to wine blending” workshop, run by the Bordeaux Tourist Office in collaboration with Les Médocaines, four wine-growers from the Medoc area. For groups of up to eight people only, the half-day workshop will be taking place every Monday during February and March and includes a visit of a chateau followed by a blending workshop in the tasting room of an other estate

The recently opened Wine Gallery has an unusual and innovative offer for wine-lovers: a chance to try a rare selection of the very best Bordeaux. Barbara Hendricks and Carolyn Carlson top the bill at the Bordeaux Opera House
 
Saturday, March 13th, soprano Barbara Hendricks will be singing Schubert’s Die Winterreise (The Winter Travel), with piano accompaniment by Love Derwinger. Friday, February 12th and Saturday, February 13th, Eau (Water), a major work by American choreographer Carolyn Carlson, focuses on the powers of the liquid element, describing with 12 dancers a plunge into the depths accompanied by a growing awareness of the value of this vital element. Joby Talbot’s music and Alain Fleischer’s watery mirrors help create a unique atmosphere that sweeps the dancers along. Friday, February 12th and Saturday, February 13th. Read more
A French first: a city’s events diary as an iPhone application
 
Bordeaux, the ‘digital city’, is constantly finding innovative new services to offer both inhabitants and visitors, the latest of these being an events diary from the bordeaux.fr portal via iPhone. The new application, called ‘A Bordeaux’, is available free of charge from the Apple Store, and can be accessed anywhere. An event search can be carried out by time, place or category, the results are localised on a map and can be sent to others by email or posted on Facebook or Twitter. Although the service is only available in French at the moment, there are plans for an English version at a later date. Read more
